Subjects Taught: History and Politics
I studied my BA (Hons) in History and Media at the University of East Anglia and moved to the university of Warwick for my MA in the Social History of Medicine before completing my PhD in History at Oxford Brookes.
I spent over a decade working in Higher Education carrying out research, teaching and publishing for a wide range of universities, including the University of Leicester, University of Liverpool and the University of Oxford. For the last five years, my career has focused on FE in teaching and raising aspirations as part of the Bedford College Group. Before moving into education, after passing my PhD in History, I worked as an academic researcher and historian in some of the country’s leading universities.
I have taught undergraduate courses at the University of Leicester, researched new directions in History and published widely, such as articles in The Lancet and authored books with Bloomsbury, Routledge and Palgrave. My book, Medical Negligence in Victorian Britain (Bloomsbury) is a respected work of reference and used for FE, HE and KS5 courses in the history of medicine, public health and welfare.
Why I Love Working at Corby Sixth Form:
I enjoy the buzz of being part of a new institute and supporting Corby’s young people on their journey to HE. History and politics are fundamental to understanding the present so we can avoid the mistakes of the past and shape a brighter future. I love History and Politics because I am interested in people, society and the complexities of the human condition.
